1. Copies of the program must be purchased direct from Cambridgeshire Software House (sales@cshsoft.com or tel: 01487 741223 for details).
2. Your school will have until a date to be announced in March 2009 to submit your first round entry to Cambridgeshire Software House. The intervening period should be used to familiarise students with the software and the mathematics skills required.
3. Shortly after the first round a race will be run by Cambridgeshire Software House to determine the winning school in each Region (generally based on Local Authority boundaries) in each of the three age ranges. Each Regional winner will then be invited to submit another entry (based on a different software setup) to Cambridgeshire Software House before a date to be announced in May 2009.
4. Cambridgeshire Software House will run a race between the Regional winners, in the presence of an independent adjudicator, in order to determine the best cars submitted in each age category.
5. The pupils (see 7 below) responsible for designing the best cars will be invited to attend a National Final at the end of June 2009. They will work on a race set up of which they will have no previous knowledge. The number of teams invited to Jaguar for the National Final will be entirely at the discretion of the Sponsors. PLEASE NOTE: Whilst there are no restrictions on the use of calculators during the preliminary stages of the competition, they will not be allowed during the National Final.
6. All schools taking part must be aware that should they win through to the National Final, any travelling/accommodation or associated costs incurred will be their sole responsibility.
7. There will be three age ranges within the Challenge:
Age Range 1: Any child attending a Primary School on 30th September 2008 (excluding P7 students in Scotland). Age Range 2: Any child in years 7, 8 and 9 (P7, S1 and S2 in Scotland) on 30th September 2008.
Age Range 3: Any child in years 10 and 11 (S3 and S4 in Scotland) on 30th September 2008.
8. Schools must make up their teams as follows:
Primary School Challenge: 4 pupils
Age Ranges 2 and 3: 2 pupils
9. Sponsorship will be sought to cover the National Final Prizes - see also Sponsor information.
10. The purchase of Version 10 of 'Cars - Maths in Motion', either as a City Learning Centre, SSAT Lead Centre, Education Authority, Challenge Lead Centre or individual school, entitles you to enter the Challenge only for the Challenge year during which the purchase was made e.g. software purchased up to March 2009 would entitle you to submit an entry for the 2008/09 Challenge only.
11. The Organisers reserve the right to invoice any school that fails to submit an entry for the first knockout round, for the difference between the discounted price paid and the full published price of the software.
12. Further information will be published on these web pages from time to time. In the event of any disputes arising, the decision of Cambridgeshire Software House shall be final.
